Description

Nestled on the Garhwal Himalayan Range within the Rudraprayag District, Kedarnath stands as one of India’s most sacred temples and revered Hindu pilgrimage sites. As an integral part of the Chhota Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand, Kedarnath holds profound significance as one of the 12 Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. Accessible solely via a trek from Gaurikund, the Kedarnath Temple welcomes pilgrims for a mere six months annually, from April to November, owing to the heavy snowfall that blankets the region during the remaining months.

Throughout the winter, from November to May, the deity is ceremoniously relocated from the Kedarnath Temple to Ukhimath, where devotees continue their worship. Kedar, an epithet of Lord Shiva symbolizing protection and destruction, is revered for granting “Moksha” or liberation to those who undertake the pilgrimage to Kedarnath. Situated amidst the serene backdrop of snow-capped mountains near the Chorabari Glacier, with the Mandakini River gracefully flowing nearby, Kedarnath attracts millions of devotees annually, drawn by its profound spiritual aura.

According to legend, the present-day Kedarnath Temple was reconstructed by Adi Shankaracharya, although its origins trace back to the era of the Pandavas, who purportedly erected the temple over a millennium ago using colossal stone slabs atop a vast rectangular platform.

Itinerary

Day 0: Departure For Kedarnath

  • Assemble & Board the vehicle from Anand Vihar metro station at 9 PM.

  • Depart for a spiritual and beautiful trip to Kedarnath at 9:30 PM.

Day 1: Arrival at sirsi / Guptkashi

  • Reach Devprayag in the morning, have your breakfast.
  • Witness Beautiful view of merging rivers Bhagirathi & Alaknanda.
  • Pit-Stop for Lunch in between.
  • Reach Guptkashi in the Evening, have your dinner, Sleep & relax overnight.

Day 2: Trek to Kedarnath

  • Wake early morning, have breakfast and Drive to starting point of the trek.
  • Enjoy beautiful trek to Kedarnath with amazing view of snow clad mountains & River.
  • You can hire pony/Doli/Helicopter at your own cost.
  • Reach Kedarnath late Evening, have dinner then overnight sleep & Relax.

Day 3: Visit Kedarnath Temple | Trek Down 

  • Wake up early morning and visit Kedarnath temple.
  • Seek blessings of Lord Shiva and do your prayers,
  • Enjoy beautiful morning view, have your breakfast.
  • Trek down and check in to the hotel in Guptkashi.
  • Take rest in the evening and enjoy your dinner at night.

Day 4: Back to Delhi

  • Post Breakfast, Drive back to Delhi.
  • Pit stop for Lunch at around Devprayag and reach Delhi at in the late night around 11 pm.
  • Say “GOODBYE” with loads of memories.
