Description

Harsil, nestled amidst the Himalayas, is a serene village, tourist haven, and military outpost nestled along the banks of the Bhagirathi River. Positioned en route to Gangotri, a significant Hindu pilgrimage site, Harsil graces the Uttarkashi district in the scenic state of Uttarakhand.

Legend has it that the name “Harsil” originates from a divine intervention. The Bhagirathi and Jalandhari rivers once engaged in a spirited dispute over their importance. To pacify their conflict, Lord Vishnu, also revered as Hari, manifested as a great stone, absorbing their discord. Henceforth, the amalgamation of “Hari” and “shila” gave birth to “Harsil,” symbolizing the calming of the turbulent waters between the rivers.

Perched at an altitude of 9,005 feet (2,745 meters) above sea level, Harsil sits 78 kilometers from Uttarkashi and is a mere 30 kilometers from the expanse of Gangotri National Park, covering 1,553 square kilometers. Renowned for its pristine natural surroundings and flourishing apple orchards, this hill station captivates visitors with its unparalleled beauty.

At Harsil, the tranquil flow of the Ganges below Gangotri adds to the enchanting ambiance, offering a sanctuary for those seeking solace amidst nature’s embrace.

Itinerary

Day 0 : Departure from Delhi

  • Gather and Report at Preet Vihar metro station at 10 pm in the Night and meet our trip captain.
  • Depart for Harsil. Overnight journey Delhi to Harsil

Day 1 : Uttarkashi And Reach Harsil Valley

  • Reach Uttarskashi by morning. freshen up & have breakfast and Resume Your Journey to Harsil Valley, we will stop at khedi waterfall in between.
  • Reach Harsil in the Evening
  • Check-in-Hotel/Homestay.
  • You may Explore Local Harsil Village if time persists.
  • Enjoy a Bonfire session in the evening & Have your Dinner after that.
  • Overnight sleep.

 

Day 2 : Gartang Gali and Mukhba Village

  • Wake up early morning, have breakfast.
  • We will drive to Lanka Bridge from where Gartang Gali trek starts, which is 2.5 Kms Trek (Gartang Gali, also known as the world’s deadliest skywalk, is one of the most thrilling and adventurous treks in Uttarakhand. Located near the Indo-China border). To walk into nature is to witness a thousand miracles.

Later We will Visit Mukhba Village.

  • During the winter season, the idol of Goddess Ganga, which is located in the famous Gangotri Temple, is moved to the Mukhimath Temple in Mukhba. This is done as the Gangotri Temple closes down due to heavy snowfall and low temperatures.
  • Later we will head towards  Back to Our Stay Site Harsil
  • Dinner will be served and overnight stay 

Day 3 : Bagori Village and LamaTop

  • Wake up in the early Morning.
  • Have your Breakfast & Trek to Lama top which is 2.5 Kms trek then we will visit Bagori Village also.
  • We will Board our Vehicle to Delhi Late afternoon, Pitstop in between for Dinner around Rishikesh or Chamba.
  • Next Day early morning we will reach Delhi will loads of Memories & photographs of Harsil Valley. 

Note : Lama top is Famous for its paranomic view of Harsil valley & Himalayas. Bagori Village has an interesting history realated to Indo-tibet Border.
